Hackney Refugee Forum Meeting

The chair welcomed all participants and the funders that attended the Hackney Refugee Forum Funders Fair.
REPORT AND FEEDBACK FROM THE CHAIR
The chair gave information about the recent assessment of “what HRF does and will do” before preparing HRF business Plan for coming year. The resulr of assessment in those activities as they all are crucial for our refugee and migrant groups’ better standard of lives. The diagrams were available fly posted on the walls of the conference room for the representatives to go thorough and their names suggestions. we identified 18 activities which HRF does at the moment and 6 activities to be planned to work on them. The chair also invited everybody to take part or take responsibilities
REFUGEE AND MIGRANT STRATEGY:
Hackney Council has now decided to develop a Migrant and Refugee strategy for the borough. The research will be starting next moth on the issues of the refugees and migrants. All refugee groups are encouraged to take part in this research to have the specific needs of our communities on this strategy. Ali also stated that there will be no refugee week event of Hackney Refugee Forum this year instead we will be putting our effort on to the development of the Refugee and the Migrant strategy.
HACKNEY THIRD SECTOR STRATEGY:
Ali Also stated that the council was now in the process of developing a Third Sector Strategy. All refugee organisations are encouraged to take part in this strategy.
HRF HEALTH SURVEY:
Hackney Refugee Forum is carrying out a quick survey on the health needs and issues of various refugee communities. The results of this survey will be put into a report and provided to the NHS for positive action.
HACKNEY UNITES CONFERENCE:
Hackney Refugee Forum will be participating in the Hackney Unites Conference that will be hold on the 05th of June 2010 at the Stoke Newington Secondary School. The chair of the forum will be one of the 50 speakers at the conference. He will speak on Refugee and migrant problems in Hackney and general according to impact of the recession. The event is open to all and every one is welcome to join as people’s unity against discrimination.
INFORMATION EXCHANGE
There where a couple of information available for the attendees from Hackney 2012 Olympics team about ONE HACKNEY CARNIVAL steering committee meeting and ELLAT training and courses for our communities. (??? and was no information exchange at the meeting as it was a funders fair and the groups saw the funders on a one to one basis.????)
